I’m sore and I love it!

Yesterday was a great running day (it was a great running day too, but just a great day in general).

I woke up at a crack of dawn (I’m not sure what ‘the crack of dawn’ literally means — but I was up super early for a Saturday, 5:45 am!) After taking the pooch on a walk and getting all my running gear ready (which actually isn’t much these days, I’m somehow becoming a less needy runner as I become a better runner), I left my house by 6:30 to make it for a 7:30 am run.

I love Christian Runners so much. They are an awesome organization. It’s run by awesome people (at least the Atlanta branch is – this is the only experience i have with CR) and everyone who attends is just so friendly, warm, and most importantly welcoming. No matter your pace, size, goals…you’re always welcome. This is a really important aspect of a running group for me since I am still fairly slow and overweight. It’s so nice to have a place to call my ‘running home.’

I forgot how much I love to run with people. It just made me so happy to be back with my running partners after a few weeks of running alone (and in various states!) I feel ready to tackle my next half marathon in a few weeks and move onto marathon training in the summer!

An 8 mile run and a 3 mile walk to the library later and my calves are pleasantly sore and my heart and mind are back on track. I’ve felt a little off-course — no running pun intended here =) — recently and just feel so invigorated after a great run on Saturday! I will meet my December running goals. I will be ready to tackle this half marathon in February and PR it by many, many minutes. I will finish losing my weight. I will, I will, I will!

Today included a short 2 mile run (I was too sore to do more – at least I thought I was, if I was running alone I probably would have done more miles) with my squirell-chasing, leash-pulling, maniac partner in crime.

If this is what a week of Christmas music does to me (I’m giddy like a little kid and on a Christmas kick), I’m a little scared to see what I may produce next weekend in the kitchen…
